That bad boy is gonna sell, brother!  Either color scheme (although I haven't yet seen the more "urban" grey version in person), has nice application.  I am eager (for selfish reasons) to eventually see a backcountry-focused version of it!  I'm also waiting with baited breath for the back pocket to be available as a separate add-on for existing HPG packs.  Love the 6/12 PALS grid and the dual adjustable tool holding tabs on either side, as well.  For backcountry use, I could definitely see that pack being used by ski patrollers and avalanche professionals.

SmilingBeard - if you look at the product page, the two tone grey pack is foliage and manatee.

Curious to see the weight of this pack (not yet provided last I checked). Looks like another great design.

Forgot to weigh the final production sample before I sent it off to Germany for the IWA show. Alpendrms has an earlier iteration that should be close enough in weight to final for us to use.

I'll strip down and empty mine tomorrow to weigh it and post the result.

The Aston House weighs 3.8 lbs, empty.  I will have some photos and short write-up posted later today of an example load-out and test hike I conducted with it.

I saw the photo on the Facebook page with the business trip load out and this pack looks like it is going to fit perfect into my needs for a hiking day pack, one nighter and my everyday carry of my business tools.
I was wondering what laptop sleeve you were using to hang inside the compartment closest to your back? Very excited to get my hands on one of these.

This pack has zero appeal to me, but I understand its introduction to satisfy the gadget-freak contingent.  Their money spends as well as that of the "enlightened" :).  I hope this pack sells like hotcakes if it'll keep the original HPG products, like the Tara Pocket, available.

It is just a temporary one. I went to Best Buy found on that fit my laptop, with the zipper on the end.  Evan modded it with a hang tag. Stayed tuned so to speak.

TAK , sales will keep items in the line. Sales of other items won't.

Anxiously awaiting release of this pack. At first I was torn and could not find any utility in this stlye pack for my requirements. I already own an Umlindi, Tara and Attache so I could not envision where this style pack would fit in my line-up. However, my thoughts are that the roughly 1800 volume paired with the attache in a shoulder carry capacity would suit my travel and work requirements ideally. The organization of the Aston is appealing for buisness travel and backcountry sking and I really like the fact that it accepts a Prarie belt. I don't recall this being specificed but will this come with a Prarie belt in a standard package?

I know this pack fills a niche and appreciate the thoughful design and breaking the standard paradigm. I think this will help introduce a whole new group into the HPG community.

It won't come with a belt, and you might want to hold off getting a Prairie Belt to go with it right off. It is definitely a direction we didn't think we would take, but the reality is I love the pack for my business travel were the organization is well appreciated. We have gotten feed back from a fair number of folks that they see utility for organization intensive uses back country (comms, precision rifle, med kits, etc...). Time will tell how well received it will be.

Last year I ended up hauling my Ute around in an impromptu fashion while wearing a gun belt. Necessarily I didn't buckle the Prairie Belt. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it carried, mostly due to having the stays bent properly so that the weight was still directed to the proper area. I ended up wearing it for approximately 1 mile of walking on mostly even terrain with a few small hills, just as an experiment. No problems at all. To me the Aston House feels just about the same. I think you will be really pleased with how well it carries even without a belt.

Thanks Scot and Nick for the information. I have a Prairie Belt for my Umlindi and while it is an excellent piece of kit, I routinely carry the lindi without. I suspect the major reason is my load weight has never warranted the need. I suspect the Aston House will be the same for my uses. Thanks again and appreciate you offering this style pack.
