Weight: 3.50 lb
Length: 3.00 in
Width: 11.00 in
Height: 16.00 in
Dimensional Volume: 528.00 in3
Dimensional Volume (DV) is NOT the number used by manufacturers to denote capacity. To get a cubic inch number that you can use to compare to what you're accustomed to, multiply DV by 1.5 as a rule of thumb. Bigger packs can use an even bigger multiplier - up to 1.7.

This is one where you really need to watch the video to get a handle on the product.

The stove consists of two pieces - the lightweight roll up belly, and the hinged front / back / top assembly. There are no small parts to lose. It is constructed of various thicknesses of stainless steel and has the following features:

  • 10"x10"x15" fire box when assembled
  • Robust 1000d carrying case
  • Sets up in under a minute
  • Extremely efficient burn thanks to a rounded belly that sifts coals to the bottom and intake holes that force the fresh air straight through the coal bed
  • Large front door that makes it easy to start a fire inside and also to load larger logs for longer burn times
  • Front door folds down so it is easy to run the stove from either side
  • At half damp, will hold coals for up to 6 hours

What about the stovepipe?

Our stoves are sold without stove pipes. Our damper system is integral to the stovepipe, so you'll want a pipe from us if you want to make use of the damper. On the size large, the hole is a 4" hole. If you already have a 4" pipe you want to use, you don't have to buy one from us. You can also buy a galvanized tin 4" => 3" adapter at most hardware stores if you want to make use of the widely available 3" roll up pipes or already have one. In smaller shelters (everything up to a 6 man tipi), you may want to throttle the stove down with a 3" pipe anyway.

What about titanium?

We always try to keep cost as reasonable as we can and will sometimes do that by not using extra expensive lightweight materials. We've already gotten pretty significant weight savings over comparably sized box stoves by using a lightweight roll up style belly even though we're using full stainless construction. At some point, we'll cost out this stove in titanium and make a decision about whether to offer that for sale.

When humans first set foot in a new continent, they came in small groups under their own power, bringing only the gear they needed. Most simply called themselves The People. Over time, those who chose the rougher freer life of the up country came to think of themselves as the Hill People.
