First Aid Essentials is the kit to put in your pack for a day hike or a solo backpacking trip if you're a cautious traveler. It's not the kit you want for caring for a group on an extended backcountry trip or for Search and Rescue. You'll also still want to carry trauma supplies.That being said, we put decades of collective experience into refining a useful kit at a relatively light 6 ounce weight cost.
In addition to that, the back side of the lightweight mylar package is printed with a very useful wilderness first aid cheat sheet to help you remember what to do in a variety of backcountry medical scenarios. The kit contains the following items:
Gear is best with training, and that's especially the case with first aid! We recommend a Wilderness First Aid class to go along with this kit. We also recommend a Trauma Kit and a Stop the Bleed class as well.
