description Description

Nice leather and a fine knife just go together. However, most folks typically use kydex for a few reasons. First is the ability to have good retention with easy access. There are no straps or snaps to undo. You can just draw the blade. The second is that it is easy to mount a kydex sheath in a variety of ways and locations. The third is that it is relatively easy to find or make a high quality kydex sheath. The final is water/moisture retention, which is largely addressed by quality leather and environment. When we set out to design a sheath for the Coyote knife, we set out to address all three. Retention was solved by Randall Knives many years ago, or at least we were first introduced to it by the sheath that Scot’s Randall came in. By using a snap and correct positioning, the knife is retained for normal daily activities, but a solid pull on the knife pops the snap and allows for a quick draw. From there mounting was addressed by a single strap on the center rear of the sheath with two snaps. The strap is positioned for a higher ride and is thin enough to slide into molle slots. The lower snap is a pull the dot and the snap positioned in the middle of the strap is a standard snap. Both snaps are capable of being used if mounted on molle and to set a half or full width opening for other various belts and straps. That allows for mounting on most belts, packs, webbing etc… The sheaths come in a right- and left-hand versions. The right-hand version is for outside of the belt carry with edge back on the right hip. The left-hand version is for outside of the belt carry on with edge back on the left hip. NOTE, if you want to carry the knife on the bottom of your Kit Bag with the handle to the right and blade away from your body then you will need the left hand sheath. To address quality and materials concerns, we chose Chattanooga Leatherworks, who uses good leather and makes a high quality sheath.

The result is a streamlined sheath that will look as good as your Coyote and allow for easy access with secure carry in multiple ways.
